Valentine's Day can be one of the most difficult days of the year when you are single. This, year, it fell on a Sunday, which protected a lot of single people from being bombarded with flower arrangements, chocolate, and I love you's. Let's face it, watching other people holding hands and being madly in love is difficult, especially when that is exactly what you want to be experiencing. But here are four things to keep in mind:
- Just because someone is in a relationship, this does not mean that they are in a happy relationship. There are plenty of people who are happy on Valentine's Day but unhappy 364 days out of the year.
- Valentine's Day is a commercial holiday. You are being bombarded with images, commercials, and slogans because stores need you to buy into having a valentine so that you will literally "buy" more at their store.
- Someone is out there for you. Although the entire dating and online dating process can be discouraging at times, remember that it takes the average person about one year to find someone on line. So don't feel like something is wrong with you because you are wading through the good and the bad. Plus, dating can give you some really great stories to share with your friends.
- Not being in a relationship with someone on Valentine's Day does not define how incredible you are. You are beautiful, intelligent, and amazing. You were all of these things on February 13th, 14th, and every single day of the year.
