Mindset. I’m sure you’ve heard that word a million times but what does it really mean? Mindset is the way that you think of yourself, your purpose, how you are situated in the world, and your perception of why things happen. It is also about how you view challenges. Are challenges temporary or are they permanent? Do they knock you off your game or do they enable you to figure out a different way to accomplish your goals? Do things happen or do they happen to you?
When it comes to accomplishing anything in life, your mindset trumps everything. The Universe is designed to attract whatever is in your mind. It is not set up to prove you wrong. So if you want to change your life, love, or career, the very first thing you have to do is change your mindset.
So how do you change it? Years before I met my husband, I was coming out of a long-term relationship. I was not looking forward to getting back into the dating pool. My friend called me up and said, “Dating is fun. Getting to know someone’s likes and surprising them with gifts is fun. You also get a chance to try out some incredible places and restaurants.” I thought about it. She was right. Instead of thinking about what the dread or frustration, I focused on the fun. If I had a bad date, I laughed about it with my girlfriends, instead of letting it deter me from getting back out there. I eventually attracted someone who shared my exact same mindset. We laugh at ourselves, each other, and create fun and opportunity in every situation.
Online dating is the same. If you look at it as a place where losers and creeps exist, you will only attract losers and creeps. If you look at it as a chance to discover great people who may not have the time to go out and meet new people, your mind will open itself to a new and exciting opportunity.
At the end of the day, you create your own experiences in life. Why not try shifting your focus from doom and gloom to fun and possibility? No one wants to be around (or date) a pessimistic or gloomy person. So now is your chance to shift your frustration into opportunity and give the universe a chance to deliver what you have been looking for.
